Laguna Grande Park (Seaside)

I can’t exactly call this a hike. It was more like a quasi nature walk in the middle of town. But as usual, the kids loved it. They decided to warm up with some airplane circles in the grass.

Our walk consisted of a loop around a lake. There were a lot of observation platforms like this one.

In the background from left to right, a car parts warehouse (now out of business), Hwy 1, (In & Burger as of 2016), and a hotel. This is mainly why it didn’t feel much like a hike to me.

This was the most exciting part of our walk. Ana dropped a few cracker crumbs and these birds swarmed. I thought it would be fun to come back with some stale bread.

But then this sign killed my only reason to come back here.

We later came upon this little feeding spot. I don’t know what was so tasty in that water but the birds were having a nice feast. I guess they can live without our stale bread.

I thought this was actually a pretty scene.

And can you believe their luck?! Another playground! Yay.

And here it is! Joy!

This is hike #26 from my Monterey Hikes list.

Hiking distance: 1.3-mile loop
Hiking time: 40 minutes
Configuration: loop with optional spur trails
Elevation gain: level
Difficulty: easy
Exposure: mostly exposed

Hiking buddies: the girls.
Would you do it again? not likely.
Best for… young children who love playgrounds.

    1. Yeah, can you tell I was a little grumpy when I wrote this? I’m totally going on a hike tomorrow with the girls and dang it, it’s going to be awesome!!

    1. Yes, I definitely felt good about at least taking them out. Especially since it’s been raining every day since! And the funny thing is that I’ve driven past this area so many times and had no idea there was a small lake there.
