George Washington Park (Pacific Grove)

I took them to George Washington Park in Pacific Grove. This park has a series of flat, interconnecting trails that the girls had a lot of fun exploring. There is also a playground here, so perfect for little ones who are reluctant about hikes.

I told them they could choose which way we go and they absolutely loved leading the way and being in charge of our hike.

There were a few fallen trees, none of which were blocking the trail. But they chose to climb over most of them anyway.

Eliza had to copy…

After we explored the trails, they had some snacks and enjoyed the playground.

Notice that Eliza is wearing a cozy fur-lined sweater jacket and Charlotte is in a sleeveless dress. It was 51 degrees. The way these kids get acclimated to this chilly weather is nuts.

This is hike #39 from my Monterey Hikes list.

Hiking distance: 1 mile round trip
Hiking time: 1 hour, including play-time at the playground
Configuration: interconnecting loops
Elevation gain: level
Difficulty: easy
Exposure: shaded forest
Hiking buddies: the girls
Would you do it again? Yes, definitely.
Best for… young kids
